DR222-0012 Joan Austin Elementary School

A property owner in your neighborhood submitted an application to the City of Newberg for a variance to reduce the required on-site parking by 40 spaces for the Chehalem Cultural Center.  You are invited to take part in the City’s review of this project by sending in your written comments. For more details about giving comments, please see details below.

The project involves the activation of second-floor spaces in the Chehalem Cultural Center building. These existing vacant spaces within the building will be renovated and activated to include a theater space, a dance/movement classroom, a second classroom, restrooms, mechanical room and storage. A new staircase will be constructed to connect the first floor to a new second floor lobby space.

The activation of these new spaces within the building will require an increase in on-site parking spaces. This request is for a Variance to reduce the required minimum number of on-site parking spaces by 40 spaces.
