Online Community Discussion - Rent Burden
Calendar Date:
Wednesday, December 16, 2020 - 6:00pm to 7:00pmNewberg needs community input to address rising rents.
Join us through Zoom on December 16, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. to discuss rent burden causes and solutions. The State of Oregon identified Newberg as a community with severe rent burdened households, meaning more than 25% of renters pay more than 50% of their monthly income on rent.
Items to be discussed include:
1. Causes and consequences of severe rent burdens within the city.
2. Barriers to reducing rent burdens.
3. Possible solutions to reduce rent burdened households.
Following this discussion, the City will submit a report to the State's Housing and Community Services Department. This meeting relates to the State of Oregon House Bill 4006, enacted in 2018.
All community members are invited to voice their stories, solutions, and to give input to the City.
