Watershed Grant Program
Program Overview
The small grant program benefits Newberg residents Projects for watershed protection and restoration to enhance watersheds health by allowing rainwater to soak into the ground, have good water quality, and are healthy for fish, wildlife, and people.
Eligible Applicants
Community groups, non-profits, student groups, schools, faith organizations, neighborhood, and service groups within the City of Newberg are eligible to apply.
Eligible Projects include:
The grants will only support work performed in the City of Newberg. All grants must benefit Newberg residents. Projects must be easily accessible or visible to the public and show a clear public benefit.
- Youth leadership: Projects that provide valuable leadership and career development opportunities for young people while improving our environment.
- Environmental Education and encouraged Creativity: Include innovative classroom, workshops, curricula, creative art projects, particular events, or interpretive signs. Topics can include pollution prevention, native plant ecology, and local water resources.
- Urban Restoration: Projects that remove impervious surfaces and replace them with native plants, gardens, or pervious pavement.
- Natural Areas Restoration: Projects that remove trash from parks and natural areas and remove invasive species and plant native plants. benefit the watershed and turn neglected places into community assets.
- Stormwater Management: Projects such as rain gardens, or swales that collect rainwater from roofs and paved areas and let it soak into the ground.
