Rogers Landing closed for boat races
Rogers Landing Closed– River Street impacts
Rogers Landing is closed to vehicles during the weekend due to Memorial Day boat races. But pedestrians can walk down, and a shuttle bus will ferry visitors down to the park. The Newberg Boat Club sponsors the annual event, which was first held in 1949. The club invites residents to come to the races, which are no charge.
Spectator parking is available at the top of the hill. Handicapped parking will be allowed with a legal handicapped parking permit. For more on the event, visit http://www.newbergboatclub.org/
Races begin about 10- 11 a.m. on May 28 and 29. Races finish when all classes of boats have completed their heats, usually about 6:00 p.m. Three flights of races are held each day with a short intermission between flights. On May 29 there will be a Memorial Ceremony, including the laying of a wreath on the water, and a 21-gun salute by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Food and drink is available at the races. The Boat Club will have a concession stand on site.
