5/10/2021 Update: We are working with our recruiter to review the first round of applications. We are planning to schedule interviews to be held at the end of May or early June. 

Community Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit survey responses to the Newberg-Dundee Police Department Police Chief Survey! We received over 700 responses to the survey - click here to see the compiled a graphical representations of the results. 

We also provided the survey in Spanish - click here to see the results of the Spanish language survey. 

In addition to these results, we will also be utilizing the long-form responses to help craft interview questions and throughout the recruitment process. 

About NDPD 

The Newberg-Dundee Police Department oversees a dedicated department of Police Officers, 9-1-1 Dispatchers, and Support Staff. The City expects the next Police Chief to build on the successes of the department and support the community’s goals. With 35 sworn police officers the Newberg-Dundee Police Department serves over 27,000 residents and engages in a multitude of community outreach programs including Shop with a Cop, Citizens Police Academy, the Special Olympics, Mental Health Response, and more.  These professionals significantly contribute to our rating as the “Safest City in Oregon” (Backgroundchecks.org) and a top 10 Safest Cities in Oregon (Safewise.com).  The next Police Chief should expect to build on the successes of the department and support this Community’s goals. 

The Recruitment Process 

The first review of the applications will be on May 2, 2021. 

We're conducting a full recruitment process and nation-wide search to ensure we find the best possible fit for our community now and in the future. The City has contracted with the Novak Consulting Group to assist with the recruitment process. 

Hiring Process Timeline: 
Dates may change slightly as needed

  • March 2021 - Position Opens for Applications 
  • April 25, 2021 - Application Period Closes
  • May 1-10, 2021 - Review of Candidates
  • End of May 2021 - Semi-final Interviews are held
  • June 2021 - Final Interviews are held
