Important Notice Regarding an Incident on 10/31/22
November 3, 2022|Official Press Release from NDPD
During the early morning hours of October 31st, 2022, officers of the Newberg-Dundee Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a fire at a residence in the 400 block of North Villa Rd., in Newberg.
When officers arrived, they found a flag that was attached to the residence had been set on fire and was destroyed. The residence sustained slight damage but there were no injuries during the event.
A Surveillance video showed a masked individual set an American flag (colored to show support for the LGBTQ+ community) on fire. After lighting the flag on fire, the suspect appeared to perform what is commonly known as a “Nazi salute,” and then left the scene.
The Newberg-Dundee Police Department and city management takes these cases very seriously there is no place in our community for these types of cowardly actions. The case is currently being investigated as a bias crime by the Special Investigations Unit.
If you have any information that may lead to developing a suspect in this case, please contact Detective Fouch at (503) 538-8321 or by email at daniel.fouch@newbergoregon.gov
