Community Development Department Comes Back Online
Community Development Department Comes Back Online | January 23, 2024
(NEWBERG, OR) – Following damage by floodwater at Newberg City Hall on January 15th, several City departments were displaced from their regular office spaces. Leadership staff moved swiftly to identify and retrofit alternative locations on City property to prevent delays in service.
Several local organizations have stepped forward to invite City staff into their spaces. These invitations were beyond generous, and the offers have been deeply appreciated. After considering the City’s needs for staff workspaces, it was determined that staff would not need to expand out to these community spaces. Utility Billing is now providing services out of the Public Safety building at 401 E 3rd Street (see January 18 press release). The Community Development Department (CDD) has also been relocated to the Wastewater Treatment Plant property.
Temporary locations and hours for Planning, Building, and Engineering are provided below. This location is active starting January 22, 2024. Hours will change slightly on January 29, 2024.
Location: 2301 NE Wynooski Road (Administrative Office), Newberg
Hours starting January 22: Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, Lunch closure from 12-1
Hours starting January 29: Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, No Lunch closure
With this second set of re-openings at temporary locations, basic city services have been re-established in less than a week. Updates will be posted when City Hall is back to regular operation and City staff are able to move back in. Due to extensive damage initial estimates are that this will be at least 12 weeks away and possibly further out.
The City will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
