Update on City Hall Flooding and Relocation of City Services |  January 16, 2024

(NEWBERG, OR) – A few minutes before 11 am on January 15, 2024, a staff member who was working at Newberg City Hall called NDPD Dispatch to report water spraying from the ceiling on the second floor of the building. Shortly after, Public Works Maintenance staff arrived on the scene to attempt to stop the flow of water, which was coming from a burst pipe in the fire suppression system at City Hall. The flow of water was controlled, and a response team began to move office furniture, equipment, and documents to secure locations.

On January 16 at 9 am a team of City department heads and essential staff met to lay out plans to quickly and efficiently relocate staff to prevent a delay in City services. The City of Newberg aims to resume essential services by the end of the week and will post updates to the City’s website and social media as soon as they are available.

City offices, including the Newberg Public Library and the Public Safety Building, will remain closed due to inclement weather on Wednesday January 17, 2024. City Hall will remain closed indefinitely to repair significant damage from flooding.
