2024 NEWBERG CITY COUNCIL VACANCY
District No. 3
On May 20, 2024, at their regular meeting, Newberg City Council made a motion to declare a vacancy in District 3 due to the resignation of Councilor Molly Olson. Applications will be accepted from May 21, 2024 until June 10, 2024 at 5pm.
District 3 is generally located in southwest Newberg south of downtown. Fifth Street is the northern boundary west of River Street. First Street is the northern boundary between River Street and Hess Creek. East of Hess Creek the north and east boundary follows First Street, Parkview Drive, Second Street, Church Street, Third Street and Everest Street. The district includes all land generally south and west of these lines and within the city limits.
City Council Members:
- Set policy for the entire City
- Approve the City budget
- Attend two Council meetings per month and committees as assigned
- Participate in intergovernmental relations
- Supervise City Manager, City Attorney, and Municipal Judge
- Term of vacancy runs until December 31, 2024
Qualifications & Residency Requirements
Candidates must:
- Be a registered voter
- Have resided within the City of Newberg for at least one year
- Reside within the boundaries of District No. 3
- Apply by Monday June 10, 2024 at 5pm
- Return supplemental questions by June 12, 2024 at 5pm

To apply, fill out the form below and submit it to cityrecorder@newbergoregon.gov or in person at the Public Safety Building at 401 E 3rd St. Newberg, OR 97132. Applications can be received in person Monday-Friday 8 am-1pm, 2pm- 4:30pm (Please note the city will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday on May 27th.)
Candidates who meet the stated qualifications will then receive a list of interview questions by email and will need to submit their answers by June 12, 2024 at 5pm.
