The City of Newberg is refreshing Newberg's tourism plan to reflect advances over the last five years and update content based upon the evolving landscape. 

The update with identify roles, responsibilities, and actions that encourage increased effective collaboration between principal stakeholders of the tourism plan. 

Plan Update Objectives

  1. Refresh Newberg's tourism plan to reflect advances over the last five years and update content based upon the evolving landscape.
  2. Identify roles, responsibilities, and actions that encourage increased effective collaboration between principal stakeholders of the tourism plan.
  3. Establish a new set of long-term goals, strategies, and implementation actions.
  4. Review budget and recommend funding strategies that stakeholders may pursue in accomplishing tourism work. 

Background 

The Newberg City Council adopted Newberg Strategic Tourism Plan in April 2016. Since adopting the plan, implementation has occurred by the establishment of a destination marketing organization named Visit Newberg (dba Taste Newberg). Additional entities involved in tourism activities include the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce which operates the Visitor Center under contract with the City, the Newberg Downtown Coalition, Newberg Downtown Wineries Association, Chehalem Cultural Center, Chehalem Park & Recreation District, George Fox University, hotel operators, short-term vacation rental operators, wineries & vineyards within and surrounding Newberg, distilled beer & spirits operations, agritourism, historic preservation, hot air balloons, helicopter tours, local events and festivals, Willamette River recreational activities, and others.
