Public Advisory
PUBLIC ADVISORY: Springbrook Rd center lane closure and sewer spill to Springbrook Creek
Newberg, OR | December 6, 2023
SPRINGBROOK RD south of East Second Street has experienced pavement buckling around a storm/sewer access in the center turn lane. The center turn lane between East Second and McKern Court on Springbrook Rd south has been closed for safety and repairs.
The public is asked to drive carefully on Springbrook Road southbound and watch for traffic congestion and workers on the roadway.
In order to stop the damage and make repairs on Springbrook Rd; the lift station for that pipe was turned off to reduce the flow. This resulted in an overflow into Springbrook Creek. At this time, the overflow is limited to the creek and not on the public streets or sidewalks.
Because of the potential health hazard from the overflow, authorities request all persons to avoid entering any creeks and obey all posted signs until further notice.
The City of Newberg Public Works is in contact with DEQ and ODOT during this response.
Questions regarding the Sewer Overflow can be routed to: Carl Ramseyer at 503-537-1147 or
Russ Thomas, Public Works Director, at 503-550-1574
