What is Kanopy?

Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema with collections from Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers. And beginning in May 2018, Kanopy launched Kanopy Kids!

With the motto of "thoughtful entertainment," Kanopy provides library patrons with access to films of unique social and cultural value--films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere, and programming that features diversity, with a wide array of foreign language films and films on race and current affairs.

Stream Kanopy from your computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast, Roku or Amazon Fire tablet. Visit the Kanopy support site for help getting started.    You receive 5 "rentals" per calendar month for each account.  This allows you to view the film unlimited times with 72 hrs/3 days.

If you don't have a card, sign up online (visit our spalsh page to see how)

And these movies all have public performance rights.   Viewing films in a group forum is permitted as long as the viewing is by authorized viewers and it is not for commercial benefit (i.e. no admission costs are charged and no profit is made from the screening).
