724px-Tool_to_extract_water_from_fire_hydrantFire hydrant meters are a specialized type of portable turbine meter that are attached to a fire hydrant to measure water out of the hydrant. Hydrant meters are typically used in construction, pool filling, or where a permanent meter is not yet installed.

Fees  due at the time of Application:
  • $150 non-refundable Application fee:
    The application fee covers account setup and the first 1,337 Cubic Feet (10,000 gallons) of water used within the first month.
  •  $1,500 refundable meter and valve deposit:
    When the meter is returned to the City and determined to be in good condition, the Applicant’s deposit will be refunded by check. If the meter requires repairs, the cost of repairs will be deducted from the deposit, and the remaining balance will be refunded to the Applicant. If the meter is not returned, or if it is damaged beyond repair and requires full replacement, the deposit will be forfeited and applied toward the replacement cost of the meter.
Monthly Fees:
  • $10: Monthly billing fee  
  • $5:  Daily rental fee 
  • Monthly Stormwater Service Charge at the current rate: Water used in excess of the first 10,000 gallons will be charged at the current industrial volume rate.
Failure to reimburse the city for usage on a monthly basis is considered a violation of city code 13.15.040 which will result in immediate termination of hydrant meter usage and/or a fine of $500.00 or more.

Hydrant Meters rentals can only be used for projects within City limit's


A City of Newberg Business License is required to obtain a Hydrant Meter.
