Mayor Rosacker presents Head Coach McCloskey with the signed proclamation

On October 16, 2023 Mayor Bill Rosacker and the Newberg City Council invited the George Fox University women's golf team to their meeting to honor them with an official proclamation recognizing the team's accomplishments.

The invitation was extended in lieu of the golf team's championship win, their first-ever NCAA Division III title, under head coach MaryJo McCloskey.

Congratulations to the team, including Avery Kageyama, Liana Brown, Makensie Toole, Alison Takamiya, Giselle Flint, Ainsley Carter, and Kiana Toole for achieving such an extrordinary feat! This is the seventh NCAA trophy the Bruins have brought home to Newberg for podium finishes at fourth place or above.

In recognition of the team's success and achievements, Mayor Rosacker officially declared May 12th as "George Fox Women's Golf Championship Day".  The Mayor stated, "I urge all residents of Newberg to join me in celebrating the George Fox women's golf team and to acknowledge their outstanding accomplishment, as they have brought immense pride and honor to our community."
