Leaf Season Is Here!
Be a good neighbor. Keep sidewalks and streets safe by cleaning up leaves and yard debris properly.
As a reminder, it is the responsibility of residents to keep their sidewalks and street free of yard waste and other debris. Raking or blowing leaves and debris into the street clogs the storm drains and causes unsafe flooding in your neighborhood. It is a violation of Newberg Municipal Code 8.15.030.B-10 which may result in fines.
If you see a clogged storm drain, please use a rake to clear the problem or call ► 503-537-1234 to report flooding. For safety reasons, avoid stepping into the puddle.
Newberg does not have leaf pick up service. Short term and extra yard debris containers are available by contacting Waste Management Inc.
Leaves are falling on the ground now but afterwards your trees still need attention. Fall and Winter is a good time to prune most non-flowering trees. Many of Newberg's streets and sidewalks are lined with trees and shrubs. These enhance our community and the environment but when not maintained they pose safety hazards.
- Force pedestrians to use the street or other path to avoid low limbs and overgrown shrubs
- Present potential physical injury to pedestrians
- Block vision for drivers and pedestrians at intersections
- Cause damage to the sidewalks from roots
- Damage or prevent vehicles from parking or stopping next to the curb
- Force taller vehicles to drive down the center of the road
All of these can contribute to accidents and serious injuries.
