Stay Cool This Weekend: Cooling Shelters Available in Newberg
With hot weather expected this weekend, the City of Newberg wants to remind residents about cooling shelter options available in our community.
Whether you're heading out for a hike, finishing up a workout, or just enjoying time outdoors with family (and four-legged friends), it's important to take extra precautions during high heat. Stay hydrated, limit time in direct sun during peak hours, and check on neighbors, especially older adults and those without air conditioning.
If you need a place to cool off, the following locations are available:
Newberg Public Library
503 E Hancock Street — open to everyone. Hours vary by day: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday 10am–6pm; Thursday 10am–8pm; Friday noon–6pm. Closed on Monday, Sunday, and holidays. Check the library's Facebook page for real-time updates on severe weather closures.
Community Drop-In Center
504 E 1st Street — open to everyone, Monday through Friday 9am–5pm.
Youth Outreach Drop-In Center
615 N College Street — for ages 11–21, Monday through Friday noon–8pm.
For additional resources, dial 2-1-1.
This list was compiled in cooperation with Yamhill County and Encompass Yamhill Valley. These locations are generously provided by hosting organizations and are not supervised by the City or County, with the exception of the Library.

Stay safe and stay cool, Newberg!
