About the Operations Division of Public Works
The Operations Division operates and maintains the Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Aquifer Water Supply, 3 Reservoirs, 2 Springs and 10 Pump Stations and a recycled water system for the CPRD Golf Course.
In addition the division runs the following programs:
- Newgrow Compost Depot
- Commercial Septic Depot
- Environmental Regulation services and in house process Laboratory
- Backflow Device program
- Business Pretreatment Program
- Annual Water Quality Report
- F.O.G (Fats Oils Grease) Program
- Water Reuse System for Irrigation - currently serving CPRD Golf Course
- 24 hr on site RV Dump Station open to the public
The Department maintains a staff of fourteen; eight are Certified Water and/or Waste Water Operators. a Laboratory Compliance Specialist, an Environmental Services Manger, 3 Mechanics, a Utility employee and an office employee. The entire Operations Staff is overseen by the Plant Mangers who report directly to the Public Works Director. The Staff utilize computerized technology and modern systems practices along with constant training to provide efficient, consistent and safe services to the citizens of Newberg.
The City of Newberg complies with environmental regulations, monitors and tests the water system to insure safe drinking water that meets state and federal standards. Stormwater outfall is monitored as well as wastewater outfall and industrial sewer usage.
