The Special Investigations Unit works closely with the Department of Human Services. Our detectives assist with home visits when allegations of abuse or unsafe conditions are reported. Detectives will often accompany DHS workers to schools or residences during these visits.

The SIU host several Internet Safety classes, as well as workshops on youth safety. Detectives taught a forensics class at Newberg High School and instructed classes with the Newberg-Dundee Citizens Police Academy.

SIU detectives occasionally partner with OLCC to conduct tobacco and alcohol sting operations.  These operations remind local businesses to check identification before selling restricted items and provides penalties if they are out of compliance.

The SIU registers sex offenders and tracks those offenders for compliance with their sanctions or probation requirements.
