  • unreasonable loud noise emitted by an animal
CALL NDPD Non-emergency number to make the report: (503) 538-8321

stray dogFor an animal that simply appears lost, it is encouraged to take all reasonable steps to locate the animal's owner before calling the police department. Dogs and cats are rarely "lost" but have a tendency to wander if given the chance. Consider utilizing lost/missing pet pages on social media or contacting neighbors. Most veterinary clinics and animal shelters have microchip readers as an additional tool to locate owners.

Barking Dog
Barking complaints are one of the more frequent complaints we receive
While a barking dog can be a deterrent to would-be intruders, it can be frustrating to live near a dog that is unhappy and sharing it with the neighborhood. We always recommend making an effort to courteously advise your neighbor of your concerns, as they may be unaware of their pet's behavior. We also have an ordinance pertaining specifically to barking.
