Ground Water Treatment Plant Covers
In response to an unfunded mandate from the state Department of Environmental Quality to city is being forced to cover its water basins at our ground water plant. When this project is completed (slated to be early 2026), it will prevent the city being fined for non-compliance. Our water is excellent and always passes every test and it will still do so after the mandated covers are added.

Oxidation Ditch
In response to concerns from DEQ that the city of Newberg’s winter flows may be approaching untenable levels due to population growth the city is looking at adding a third oxidation ditch to the water treatment plant. Read MoreP
Pavement Rehabilitation & Maintenance Projects
The City of Newberg maintains 65.5 miles of paved streets and approximately 4 miles of gravel roads. The pavement rehab program funded by the city's TUF (Transportation Utility Fee) will address pavement issues across the city. Read MoreProgrammable Logic Controller Project
CompletedThe Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) allows the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to operate in an automatic mode. The PLC system, designed by a consultant (HDR), and replaced and reprogrammed the complex electronics by Green Power Electrical Contractors Inc. The project was fully completed in 2025. Read More

River Street Project
The city is embarking upon design and study that will leave us with a greatly improved River Street. Key elements of this will include a protected bike lane and new road surface. It may also include flag holders to recognize our local veterans for their service. Read MoreW
West Franklin Storm line construction
To solve an area of persistent flooding (during flash flood events) the city is building a $400,000 new storm line to divert water away from residences and an industrial area. The project is well on its way with a goal to be completed early in 2026.
