Newberg Prescription Drug Disposal Site
Newberg-Dundee Police Department and the City of Newberg Prescription Drug Disposal Site.
Oftentimes, household drugs are disposed of in the garbage or more frequently flushed down the drain or toilet. Sometimes they end up in the wrong hands.
In an effort to reduce the negative effects of these substances in our water supply and to keep them out of the wrong hands, the City of Newberg is providing a site for the general public to dispose of their unwanted, unneeded or expired medications.
The City has secured a drop box (see photo) located in the lobby of the Public Safety Building located at 401 E Third St., Newberg. The public can access this drop box during the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, M-F excluding holidays. This is a free service and the public can use the drop box anonymously.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: expired or unwanted prescription medications;over-the-counter medications; vitamins and related supplements; veterinary medications prescribed for your family pets; medications from deceased family members; and unknown tablets or capsules.
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Intravenous solutions (liquids); injectibles; syringes (needles); medical waste; and illicit substances.
PLEASE KEEP MEDICATIONS IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINERS - REMOVE OR STRIKE OUT ANY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION IF YOU CHOOSE.
This was made possible through the support and cooperation of the City of Newberg Public Works, Waste Management Inc., and Newberg-Dundee Police.
