The Oregon Department of Transportation recently released is 2009 Transportation Volume Tables. The state regularly monitors traffic volumes on state highways, and reports the result annually. Of note:
 
  • 41,600 vehicles per day travel Highway 99W through downtown Newberg. This is higher than the traffic volumes on I-5 south of the Corvallis/Lebanon interchange. 
  • About 25,900 vehicles per day travel on Highway 99W through downtown Dundee.
  • Traffic volumes on Highway 99W through Newberg have increased 4.8% over the last 4 years.
  • Overall, vehicle miles traveled on state highways increased 1.7% from 2008 to 2009. Total vehicle miles traveled had actually declined each of the previous six years. Traffic volumes in 2009 were roughly equivalent to traffic volumes in 1998.
  • About 3,700 vehicles per day cross the Highway 219 bridge over the Willamette River. The same number, 3,700 vehicles per day, also cross the northern Newberg city limits traveling on Highway 219 to and from Hillsboro.
  • About 7,600 vehicles per day cross the Chehalem Creek bridge on Highway 240 (Yamhill Highway).
