Newberg has developed an Affordable Housing Resource Center, housed on the second floor of the Newberg Public Library, 503 E. Hancock Street.

The resources are there to help educate Newberg residents of their options available in housing.  It includes several applications and instructions to help find appropriate housing.  The information at the Resource Center, as well at the links below, provides contact information for local housing agencies and services. A large portion of the resources are provided by the Housing Authority of Yamhill County. However, many other agencies have provided information as well including Habitat for Humanity in Newberg.

Many residents are unaware of the resources available to them. The City of Newberg, through the Affordable Housing Action Plan, is hoping to resolve this issue by familiarizing residents with the available opportunities.

Resources for Renters

  • Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program: Allows eligible families to find their own rental unit in the existing housing market. They pay a portion of the rent and utilities and the Housing Authority pays the balance of the rent
  • Family Self-Sufficiency Program: Voluntary program for residents of the Housing Authority’s Voucher Program. It’s designed to help families become financially independent of welfare systems and to become economically self-sufficient.

Resources for Homeowners

  • Housing Rehabilitation Program: Targets low and moderate- income, owner- occupied homeowners to help make affordable repairs to homes located in Yamhill County for as little as 0% interest with deferred payment
  • Valley Individual Development Account Program: Provides opportunity and support for clients working toward self-sufficiency by match $1 of your money with $3 from this specially funded program.
