We are proud to report that the Council of Governments named Chehalem Park and Recreation District, City of Newberg & City of Dundee in the 2011 Regional Cooperative Project Award for Chehalem Paddle Launch. This award was presented at the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments' Annual Meeting and Dinner held Wednesday, Jan. 25th at the City of Dayton Community Center.

Attached is the nomination the City of Newberg submitted for Chehalem Paddle Launch for the award. This provides details on why it was selected.

I have also attached a photo of the award being presented to CPRD Superintendent Don Clements and Dundee Mayor Ted Crawford by John Oberst, Mayor of Monmouth and immediate past chair of COG.

The award specifically names CPRD Superintendant Don Clements, City of Newberg Councilor Bart Rierson, and City of Dundee Mayor Ted Crawford.

Mayor Bob Andrews states, "It is a pleasure to see so many entities collaborating to make this exciting project a reality.  The completion of this project not only enhances our two communities, but brings them together to provide yet another opportunity for family recreation.  This project reaches beyond our communities by providing an outstanding venue to enhance tourism for the area."

Councilor Bart Rierson was not able to attend the presentation of the award, so a special presentation will be occurring at the February 6th City Council meeting, starting at 7 p.m.  A special presentation was done at the CPRD Board of Directors meeting on Jan. 26th.

The last time CPRD and these two city governments received this award was in 2011. Then the Newberg School District was also a recipient.
