Catch Basis and Swales slow storm water flow to river and filter pollution
Storm-water management reduces high volume rain run off which erodes streams and flood streets.  Slowing run off during a storm and allowing water to absorb into the ground is best.   A good Storm-water program safeguards habitats by preventing erosion and street pollution from running into rivers.

The I & I program addresses Inflow and Infiltration - which is water that finds its way into the sewers through cracks in pipes. This I & I water overloads the Wastewater system which increases costs and decreases the life of equipment.  Replacement or repair is scheduled to address aging or failing storm or sewer lines under streets within the City.

A liner is inserted to a cracked pipe to repair it without digging up the street

The Storm-water crew is a division of Public Works that maintains and repairs the Storm water network under the roads and all the street drains within the City.

There are approximately 80 miles of underground storm water pipes separate from the Sewer system.    The Crews work to check for I & I where rain water infiltrates under the streets or into the sewer system due to faulty connections, root damage or unreported connections.

No Dumping into storm drains in the street

The Street sweeping program is a part of the program to keep the storm drains clear of debris.

Residents are asked to keep Storm Drains and Catch Basins clear of trash, chemicals and yard debris.

  • Blowing leaves into the street is not permitted within city limits.
  • Report anyone commercial or residential dumping or draining anything into street drains.
  • Keep dumpsters picked up and be aware of pet waste or fertilizer runoff from yards and sidewalks.

REMEMBER: Rain water runs to local streams.
