Banned Book Week 2025-1

Each year, the American Library Association (ALA) gathers information on book challenges happening across the United States. This data comes from library professionals who report their experiences, as well as from news stories shared throughout the year. It's all part of an ongoing effort to better understand and support the freedom to read in our communities.

We celebrate the freedom to read by honoring "Banned Book Week" each year. Across the country people have banned, or tried to ban books with content disagreeable to them.
You have the right to choose what you (and your child) read, but you do not have the right to choose what someone else (or someone else's child) reads.
