Poysdorf, Austria Wine Market Square featuring a statue depiction of the coat of arms of Poysdorf

In 2006, the City of Newberg entered its second sister city relationship with Poysdorf, Austria.

There are a number of similarities between the two cities. Both are centers for the wine industry and have major highways running through them to serve visitors and travelers passing through to other vacation spots. Both are rural communities of moderate size with a modest industrial base.

Poysdorf Mayor Karl Wilfing and Newberg Mayor Bob Stewart signed the proclamation agreeing to create opportunities for common economic goals, to assist in the exchange of people and information on culture, education, recreation, custom, economic and community affairs and to encourage the development of friendships between people of all ages between both cities.

The affiliation was reaffirmed by resolution in September 2007.

The City of Newberg looks forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship with the people of Poysdorf, Austria in the years to come.
