District No. 4 Council representative

The Newberg City Council selected Patrick Johnson to fill the vacancy in Council District 4 on Wednesday, April 6. They interviewed Mr. Johnson and another candidate, Suzanne Meenahan.

Councilor Johnson will serve as the replacement to Tony Rourke who resigned in March to take a job in Texas. His term will run from April 6 to December 31, 2018.

Mr. Johnson’s background includes serving on the City’s Budget and Planning Commissions. He attended schools in Newberg and worked in the newspaper industry as well as communications. His interest in serving on the Council comes from growing up in Newberg and wanting to raise his kids in the same community he grew up in. He said “From excellent parks to a historic library and fun downtown there is a quality of life in Newberg that isn’t matched in other communities in the valley.”

Councilor Johnson wants to improve the City by working on communication with citizens about the needs of City infrastructure and to continue work on a five-year budget plan to have an idea of the things the City needs to plan for in the future.
