    The Private Development Section is committed to making Newberg a better place to work and live. We work closely with planners and contractors to build a city that will last for generations to come and will accommodate our ever growing community. Our staff participates in the permitting process, reviews plans, and inspects construction of all public infrastructure.

    September and October of every year is FireMed ambulance membership open enrollment time.  If you sign up for Newberg FireMed during open enrollment there is no waiting period and your fee is not prorated.  All memberships now expire on October 31st each year.

    Preventing fires and making our homes, schools, and businesses as safe as possible is the responsibility of every citizen.  Newberg Fire helps the community achieve this goal by providing a large array of activities, all intended to prevent or reduce the loss of property due to unwanted fires.

    Newberg Fire Department (NFD) provides structural and wildland fire protection to the City of Newberg and the surrounding Newberg Rural  Fire District which consists of 65 square miles. Additionally, NFD honors an automatic aid agreement with Dundee Fire and mutual aid agreements with Yamhill and Washington Counties as well as St Paul Fire District.

    Newberg FireMed is a membership program that protects you from the high cost of ambulance service.  When you or a family member faces a life-threatening emergency, have peace of mind knowing that we are here for you.  For only $45 per year, you and your family are covered if you need a medically necessary or physician authorized ambulance transport.  You allow us to bill your insurance provider(s) if you have one, and you never have any additional out of pocket expense for that transport.

    The City of Newberg now offers online business license registration with secure credit card payment.

    When you have completed your business license registration, you will be able to retrieve your business license online as a PDF document.

    You need a City of Newberg business license if you are operating a business of any sort within City limits, even if your business is located outside Newberg city limits.

    If you are operating a business out of your home in Newberg, your business is a home occupation.  Please click here for more information about the rules for home occupations.

    Pre-Application conferences are useful for those applicants who have multiple questions regarding their projects or who aren't sure exactly which type(s) of applications will be required for their projects. The pre-application conference is attended by staff from the Planning Division, Building Division, Engineering Division, and the Fire Marshal.

    The Newberg City Council welcomes public input during their Business meeting.  There is a time set aside on the agenda for the public to address the Council on any matter the public wishes.  There is a five minute limit and the Council requires a Public Comment Form be filled out and handed in to the City Recorder prior to the meeting starting at 7:00 p.m.

    The Newberg-Dundee Police are pleased to offer you the Vacation Home Check service while you are out of town.  This is designed to give you a little more peace of mind while you travel, and make your home safer.

    The EPA and State of Oregon require the City of Newberg to produce and distribute a Water Quality Report each year to all residences.  A significant portion of the information in the report is required by the EPA.

    As a Newberg utility customer, you may be interested in learning more about the City's utility system and billing cycle. 

    The System
    Our utility system consists of water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and storm water management.  The City obtains 90% of its water from wells located across the Willamette River in Marion County and 10% from springs located in the Chehalem Mountains.  The system has more than 120 miles of water and sewer lines.  Newberg operates under mandated state and federal rules to provide prescribed levels of water and wastewater treatment.
