The Groundwater Treatment Plant Project has been temporarily suspended as a result of rapid inflation and high-cost estimating. The City of Newberg is actively seeking cost-effective alternatives. During this pause, the city will collaborate with the state health authority to ensure compliance with fundamental regulatory standards at our current facility.

Past Projects

Annual upgrades and system maintenance are developed on a 5 year planning process.  

Capitol projects are large infrastructure improvements and are coordinated by Engineering staff with design reviews and open Invitation to Bid; unless otherwise approved by City Council. 

All projects are reflected in the City budget documents.

  • Water Treatment On Demand Hypochlorite Generation System Upgrade: 2017-18
  • Dayton Avenue Lift Station Upgrade: 2016-17
  • Well Field Communication upgrades: Water Plant 2016-17
  • Waste Water Oxidation Ditch #2 Rehabilitation: 2015-16
  • Water Reservoir Seismic Improvements: 2015-2017: 
  • Wastewater Plant Chlorination Upgrade: 2016 
  • RV/Septic/Compost Depot Access: 2015 
  • Facilities Renovation, Repair, and Expansion: Facilities Plan Update 2007
    • Phase Completed April of 2015  Capitol Fund Project via Clean Water State Revolving Fund
    • Phase 2 projects required to meet the projected demands on the system out to the year 2030.
    • The City will seeking federal stimulus funding for the design and construction of these projects.
