For many years, water meters in the City of Newberg were divided into seventeen routes for reading purposes. The meters were read on foot, on bike, and by vehicle. The reading took two people, two to three weeks to complete, reading every month, rain (snow) or shine.

The water meters have evolved from site reads, to touch reads, and now to radio reads. Half of the water meters in Newberg are now radio read meters, greatly improving the speed of our meter reading.
