Stormwater Collections

The Storm Sewer Department is responsible for maintaining the City's storm sewer system. This is a recent program added to the Public Works Department. Storm water drainage is important for many reasons. If catch basins are not maintained properly, they will back up and flood the streets. In Oregon, we have so much rain that a street could be flooded in a matter of hours if a catch basin is plugged.
Do you know what happens to storm water once it drains off the roads? Not much. Storm water is dumped directly into rivers and streams. Public Works is committed to ensuring that our storm water runoff is clean and that no illegal dumping is occurring.
