Facilities and Grounds Maintenance
Grounds:
Public Works staff maintain all the City owned property including Francis Square, the memorial Flag Pole, The Girl Scout Garden, Hwy 99 center islands, all frontage around city buildings, the Public Library grounds and much more. This includes lawns, weeds, water, leaf and garbage clean up, outdoor lighting and fencing. These employees work hard to create low maintenance visually attractive areas that can withstand constant traffic and use.
In 2017-2018 increasing native plants, low water and eco friendly products have been the focus along with better design and layouts to continue the commitment to cost savings and habitat friendly spaces.
Facilities/Buildings:
The Public Works Facility crews coordinate repairs and small upgrades for all 8 of the divisions in the City. From doors to floors, HVAC to lights they repair or contract & oversee work on a constant basis. They also keep up to date with code and ADA changes and work with CIS Risk Advisors and Fire Marshals to insure both public and employee safety. Every effort is made to use local vendors and competitive pricing because we know the facilities in Newberg are an investment that needs care and maintenance in order to continue to serve all of our community.
