Newberg FireMed Membership Program
Newberg FireMed is a membership program that protects you from the high cost of ambulance service.  When you or a family member faces a life-threatening emergency, have peace of mind knowing that we are here for you.  For only $45 per year, you and your family are covered if you need a medically necessary or physician authorized ambulance transport.  You allow us to bill your insurance provider(s) if you have one, and you never have any additional out of pocket expense for that transport.

 What is Open Enrollment?
During open enrollment (September 1 – October 31), member benefits take effect immediately after receipt of completed application and payment. Applications received between  November 1 and August 31 are subject to a 30 day waiting period, and the cost is not prorated.  This applies to current members who are renewing their membership as well.  All memberships expire on October 31 each year.

Why Newberg FireMed?
Last year over 2,000 people in Newberg’s Ambulance Service Area (ASA) required ambulance services. The average ambulance transport costs over $1000.Insurance companies seldom pay for ambulance costs in full, and Medicare covers approximately 80% of allowable ambulance fees. Newberg FireMed bills any insurance provider(s) you may have and accepts their payments as payment in full with no balance due from the subscriber.

Annual Subscription Fee: Still only $45 per year!

Services Provided:

  • Medically necessary ambulance services.
  • Non-emergency medically necessary ambulance service, pre-authorized by physician.
  • Pre-authorized ambulance transportation between medical facilities, originating in the Newberg Fire Department ambulance service area (ASA)
  • Blood Pressure checks at the Newberg Fire Department.

Not Covered:

  • Transfers to or from doctor's offices or clinics.
  • Transfers originating out of the Newberg Fire Department’s ASA.
  • Non-medically necessary transfers when not pre-authorized by physician.
  • Any services requested by a non-member.
  • Non-Members: Those not enrolled in our FireMed program, and/or a person living in the same home with a Newberg FireMed member, but not an actual family member.
