Preventing fires and making our homes, schools, and businesses as safe as possible is the responsibility of every citizen. Newberg Fire helps the community achieve this goal by providing a large array of activities, all intended to prevent or reduce the loss of property due to unwanted fires
.
Building Inspections: Both new construction and existing structures are surveyed to make sure that fire and life safety measures are met. These safety inspections not only help reduce the number of fires, more importantly they help educate business owners to hazards that typically lead to a fire.
Fire Extinguisher Training: The knowledge of how and when to use a fire extinguisher can mean the difference between a large property loss, and just some minor extinguisher powder clean up. Newberg Fire can bring our live-fire prop to your location to train on extinguisher use.
New Building Plans Review: Plans for new building construction are reviewed to meet all applicable fire safety regulations prior to the start of construction.
Fire Investigation: An intregal part of preventing future fires is to determine the exact cause of fires that do occur. A team effort is required, and Newberg Fire is part of the Yamhill County Fire Investigation Team. The team includes fire marshals and investigators from surrounding fire departments, Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, insurance industry officials, and private investigators.
Fire Safety Presentations: Some of the most favorite times we have as firefighters is being able to talk to youngsters in our community. Along with yearly school visits, and countless station tours, we have several annual major events that provide fire safety information and family fun, including our Easter egg hunt, fire prevention open house, and safety town. We also visit homeowners, talk with civic groups, and can assist with fire escape plans at your home or business.
Working together with the community, Newberg Fire is committed to providing a consistent level of service to the community in preventing fires and the spread of fires, and minimizing the damage and injuries caused by fires.
