    • Project Description

    • This is a very complex project to provide the appropriate approvals, permits, funding, design, construction and final operation of a WWTP that will meet the needs/demands of Newberg through 2030. Initial scope of work was as developed in the Newberg Wastewater Treatment Plant Facilities Plan Update (FPU) completed in 2007. The City has hired HDR Engineering as our design firm and Mortenson Construction as our Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC).

    • The City has completed a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the project. The City has also secured  $11.4 million dollars of Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to fund the first phase of the project. The first phase of the project consists of urgent repairs to equipment, and construction of a 4th clarifier, which will add much needed capacity for the plant. These two activities will begin in summer of 2011 and be completed in late 2012. Concurrent with these two items, a design report on the buildout of remaining plant improvements will be submitted to DEQ for approval. The last portion of Phase 1 of the project will see the design and installation of an updated disinfection and dechlorination process for the wastewater. Future phases of the project per the design report will be executed over the next 5-7 years, based on the availability of additional funding.
