Become a Master Recycler
Sherrie Mathison, with Yamhill County Solid Waste, is offering a Master Recycler class in McMinnville from February 9, 2012 through April 5, 2012.  Classes meet Thursday nights from 6:15 pm to 9pm with 3 Saturday field trips from 8am to 2pm.  Classes cost $75 or you can pay $35 and complete 35 hours of volunteer work.  Some of the ways people have completed their volunteer work is to staff a booth at a Farmers Market or local store, start or assist a composting program in their school, and starting or increasing the amount of workplace recycling.  For more information, contact Sherrie at mathiss@co.yamhill.or.us or 503.434.7445. See a Good Movie about Conservation, Food, or Salmon
The Yamhill County Soil and Water Conservation District and Slow Food Yamhill County are sponsoring a movie night every third Thursday at 6:30pm during the months of February to March.  Movies are free and will be shown at 3rd Street Pizza in McMinnville.  A flyer about the movies is available for download below.  For more information contact Marie Vicksta at 503.472.1474 or at Marie.Vicksta@or.nacdnet.net.

Volunteer with SOLV or Plant Trees for Friends of Trees

February 25, 2012:
Friends of Trees is back at Memorial Park in WIlsonville from 9am to 1pm (7577-7599 SW Kolbe Ln Wilsonville, OR 97070 (map)). This planting, in conjunction with the City of Wilsonville, will be an infill planting along Boeckman Creek. Friends of Trees will provide morning refreshments, gloves, tools, and all necessary guidance. March 10, 2012:
Friends of Trees is partnering with Clean Water Services and the City of Tualatin to help reforest the Saum Creek corridor (5682 Lee St. Tualatin, OR 97062 (map)) from 9am to 1pm. The wetland meadow and riparian areas around the creek offer urban habitat in the Tualatin River basin. Friends of Trees will provide morning refreshments, gloves, tools, and all necessary guidance.
