The most popular is a document simply entitled PROCLAMATION, which is a formal public announcement or declaration supporting dates of importance or actions by individuals and/or groups, which are favorable to the Newberg community. Proclamations also provide a means of conferring some special honor such as Awards of Service, Progress, or Retirement of a City employee, or Honorary Citizenship.
In some instances, proclamations are approved by the entire Council; in other instances the Mayor has the sole discretion to issue a proclamation.
