Newberg’s second sister city relationship began with
Poysdorf, Austria in 2006 with the signing of a proclamation by Poysdorf Mayor Karl Wilfing and Newberg Mayor Bob Stewart; the two cities agreed to create opportunities for common economic goals.
This city sisterhood was based on several similarities between the City of Newberg and Poysdorf such as moderate size, rural surroundings with major highways running through them, and economic interest as centers of the wine and tourism industries.
When the City of Newberg and the City of Poysdorf delegates agreed in becoming sister cities, the two cities further pledged to assist in the exchange of people and information on culture, education, recreation, custom, economic and community affairs and to encourage the development of friendships between people of all ages between both cities. In doing so, the two cities developed a bond with one another by signing a formal proclamation on September 8, 2006, and reaffirmed the affiliation again in September, 2007, by resolution.
The City of Newberg looks forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship with the people of Poysdorf, Austria in the years to come.
